We’re talking generations, not years. Unlike vinyl stickers or surface printing that peels off when the sun gets too hot, we carve into the stone. Even if the ink infill wears down after 50 years of rain (which we use high-grade weather-resistant stuff to prevent), the physical indentation remains. It’s the same tech used for ancient monuments—if the stone is still there, your message is still there.

Huge difference. Marble is gorgeous, classic, and has that soft “luxury” feel, but it’s a bit more porous, meaning it can stain if left in a dirty environment. Granite is the tank of the stone world. If you’re doing an outdoor foundation stone or a memorial that’s going to be hit by rain and dust 24/7, we’re going to push you toward granite. It’s tougher to carve, but it’s virtually indestructible.

Yes, but there’s a catch. For photos, we use a high-contrast stippling technique, usually on dark granite (like Absolute Black), because the contrast makes the image pop. For logos, as long as it’s not super cluttered with tiny, tiny details that might chip the stone, we can do it. We’ll review your artwork first and tell you honestly if it’ll look good or if we need to simplify it for the best result.

Great question. Marble is deceptively heavy. For smaller plaques, we can pre-drill holes for decorative stand-off bolts. For the big stuff, like foundation stones, they’re usually built directly into the masonry or set on a concrete base. We don’t just hand you a 50kg slab and say “good luck”—we’ll talk through the installation plan before we even start cutting so you have the right hardware ready.

Because stone is unforgiving and we can’t rush the prep. First, we have to source the right slab (no “ugly” veins or hidden cracks). Then, the machine carving is a slow, methodical process to prevent chipping. After that, the hand-painting and polishing take time to dry and cure. It’s a craft, not a print job. Usually, you’re looking at 1-2 weeks depending on how busy the workshop is.

This is the scary part—there is no “undo” button in stone. Once we carve it, it’s permanent. That’s why our approval process is so strict. We send you a digital mockup and you have to triple-check every comma, name, and date. If a mistake happens on our end, we start over on a fresh stone (our cost). If you approve a mockup with a typo… well, we’d have to start over from scratch at your cost. So, please, check that spelling!

Everything fades eventually if you leave it in the sun for 20 years, but we use specialized stone-grade enamels and leafing. It’s designed to handle the elements. If it does eventually dull down (we’re talking way down the line), the “deep-cut” carving means it’s actually really easy to just clean it out and re-apply the paint. The hard part—the carving—is already done forever.

We’re picky about this. Some stones have “internal stress” or hidden micro-cracks that make them shatter when the engraving drill hits them. We prefer using our own sourced slabs because we know the quality and how they react. If you have a sentimental piece of stone you want to use, we can inspect it, but we can’t offer a 100% guarantee it won’t break during the process.

You’re paying for the material, the specialized tooling, and the expertise. A diamond-tipped drill bit for stone costs way more than a printer cartridge. Plus, the risk is higher—if we mess up a piece of plastic, it’s 5 bucks. If we mess up a 3-foot slab of Italian marble, that’s a massive loss. You’re buying a piece of history, not just a sign.

For indoor stuff, just a soft, damp cloth. No harsh chemicals or bleach—that can eat away at the polish or the ink infill. For outdoor granite, a soft brush and water are usually enough to get the grime off. Marble is a bit more sensitive to acids (even lemon juice!), so we’ll give you a quick care sheet based on the specific stone you pick.

Don't leave your legacy to chance

Put it in stone and make it unforgettable.
